The Hong Kong Observatory was built in 1883. It is a rectangular two-storey, plastered brick structure with arched windows and long verandas, and stands on a small hill in Tsim Sha Tsui. It was declared a monument in 1984 and continues to monitor the weather in Hong Kong.
